The choice of grind, whether fine for espresso's concentrated complexity or coarse for pour-over's nuanced clarity, holds the power to amplify or temper the beans' intricate characteristics. Our roaster's mastery lies in deciphering the beans' optimal grind, aligning it with the desired brewing method and ultimately conjuring a sensory symphony that encapsulates the essence of the coffee in your cup.

It's a journey of calibration, where the roaster's expertise manifests in the barista's ability to extract flavours that mirror the roasting journey, culminating in a cup that encapsulates the roaster's artistry. Whatever your favourite taste profile we have the perfect ground coffee for you. Whether you’re seeking the ideal ground espresso coffee or a nuanced cafetiere ground coffee, take time to peruse our perfectly curated selection and find the ideal cup for you.

Discover Ground Coffee Types

Ground coffee comes in a plethora of types, catering to your different preferences and brewing methods. Medium roast, dark roast, and light roast each offer their own balance of flavours and aromas. Light roast grounds deliver a brighter and more nuanced experience, often highlighting the bean's origin-specific characteristics. Medium roast grounds offer a well-rounded balance of flavours, while dark roast grounds provide a bolder, richer taste with pronounced caramelised notes. Additionally, flavoured ground coffees, like vanilla or hazelnut, provide an exciting twist if you’re seeking a unique experience.

Our ground coffees are expertly selected by blend and country of origin, so you can choose exactly the flavour profile that suits your refined palate. Ground coffee's tastes are deeply influenced by its country of origin. These distinctions range from floral and fruity notes to balanced and nutty undertones, adding complexity and diversity to the world of ground coffee enjoyment. From a balanced Colombian to a fruity Jamaican, we have an eclectic selection of the finest beans to cater to any coffee aficionado’s tastes.

Brewing Methods for the Perfect Cup

Brewing ground coffee is an art that involves choosing the right method for your refined taste preferences. Choose the perfect grind for your method and let the coffee alchemy begin!

Cafetiere: Cafetiere ground coffee  requires a coarser grind to ensure proper extraction without causing over-extraction or sediment in the final cup. French press brewing relies on the immersion method, where coarsely ground coffee steeps in hot water for a few minutes, resulting in a full-bodied and robust cup with rich flavours and minimal acidity.

Pour-Over: This method requires pouring hot water over a bed of coffee grounds placed in a filter. It allows for precise control over the brewing process, resulting in a clean and rich cup. Pour-over brewing demands a medium-fine to medium coarseness which allows for a controlled extraction process. The slower extraction in pour-over methods extracts delicate flavours and aromas, resulting in a clean and fresh cup of coffee with distinct nuances from the beans' origin. The pour-over technique allows you to fine-tune variables like water flow and bloom time, ultimately shaping the taste to your mood.

Espresso: Ground espresso coffee is finely textured and is essential for the espresso machine's high-pressure extraction process. The fine grind allows for perfect interaction with the water, producing a concentrated shot of coffee with a thick crema and intense flavours. Espresso's quick extraction highlights both the bean's origin characteristics and the roasting nuances, resulting in a complex and bold sensory experience that serves as the foundation for all your espresso-based drinks like lattes, cappuccinos and more.

Filter Coffee Maker: A convenient method where water drips through a basket of coffee grounds and a filter, producing a mild and smooth cup of coffee. Filter brewing methods, like drip coffee makers, require a medium grind that resembles coarse sand, which ensures an even extraction as water passes through the coffee bed. Filter brewing offers a balanced and straightforward approach, highlighting the beans' inherent flavours without overwhelming acidity or bitterness. The medium grind allows water to flow consistently, resulting in a smooth, clean cup of coffee that's perfect for everyday delight.

Enhance Your Ground Coffee Experience

Truly elevate your ground coffee experience by treating your ground coffee well:

  • Freshness: Always use freshly ground coffee for the best flavour. With our monthly coffee subscriptions, you can always have a fresh batch of the perfect ground coffee to hand. No more reaching into the cupboard to find the bare when your favourite ground coffee is delivered monthly.
  • Storage: Store your ground coffee in an airtight container away from light and moisture to prevent staleness. Properly storing your ground coffee makes sure the flavour and aroma don’t escape and are only released in your cup.
  • Water Quality: The water you use affects the taste of your coffee. Use clean, filtered water to avoid any unwanted flavours and ensure the perfect cup every time.
  • Experimentation: Don't be afraid to experiment with coffee-to-water ratios and brewing times to find your perfect balance. While our master roasters have selected and ground the highest quality beans, you can make it personal with your brewing technique.
  • Temperature: Brew your coffee at the right temperature. Too hot or too cold water can lead to uneven extraction. The optimal coffee brewing temperature is typically between 90.6°C and 96.1°C. Brewing within this temperature range ensures proper extraction of coffee flavours without scorching or under-extracting the grounds.
  • Take your time: Take a moment to savour the aroma and flavours of your coffee. Mindful coffee drinking can enhance the overall experience.
